There has been a remarkable turnaround in Thoroughbred Horse Racing over all and is seen as a legitimate Social Entertainment for the masses.
The sport has risen and made the grade as a place to be at in the social annuals of not only the rich but also the normal sports enthusiast.
SPEED…WHO HAS IT WINS!!
Its simple statement and what we do is we simply track, map and highlight the horse that have run fast previously (historically) make a bright and yellow so it pops and you can see the time with a quick scan of the eye.
SECTIONALS
The term used where the over all distance is broken up in to meter chunks and the time of each horse is recorded. the quickest time mostly wins right… Yes your right.
METERS PER SECOND
A measurable quick reference we use to see how much distance a horse can travel in one second and we use this attribute as an important indicator and used in SPRINT RACES
SPRINT RACES- any race up to 1200m-1350m
These are what is classed as 700meters to 1250 or even 1350 meter races and you need to be aware that a horse may become a distance horse, meaning it can run and win over the sprint course and also win and compete well in a 1400 meter and beyond races, LA we like to differentiate a SPRINER to a MIDDLE and LONGER DISTANCE races
DISTANCE RACES- any race 1400m- 3200m
Sectionals play a role here in deciphering and selecting a winner or a horse you like, as you may know and also seen with the longer distance the riders and horses don’t go so hard through the first part of the race and therefore MPS is ALWAYS less per second that in a SPINT race, basically they don’t run flat out all the way like in SPRINTS the horse is called upon to make it run in the last 600 meters , hence the higher importance in using a SECTIONALS over MPS in DISTANCE races.
BARRIERS
Trainers scratch horse if they draw a wide barrier, so if the person that possible knows more about Thoroughbred Racing scratches a horse from a race due to the barrier you know its important
WEIGHT
Our DATA shows the most winning weight is 57.5 kg, the higher the weigh given to a horse the more class that horse has over it rivals , meaning it has raced and won in a better class of race and the handicapper is penalising the better horse so it levels the playing field some what.
Weight slows the horse down be aware of this its important.
Apprentices can have a claim and reduce the weigh and this can win and lose a race and must be acknowledged and factored into your analysis
CLASS
The Benchmarking System (BM) was introduced and love it or hate it its a system that grades the horse by moving them up a number scale when the win or place in a race and conversely take points away when the horse fails to result in a race.
GROUP 1 -2 -3 are the best races to win and run in LISTED race is the 4th best race to contest
